METHOD, AND YOUNG LEARNERS
I use a huge range of teaching material. Progressive repertoire is selected carefully to meet the particular needs of each individual student.
People often ask what age their child can start piano lessons- this varies for each child, but some can start as early as four years old!
My lessons prioritise:
- A very early introduction to playing hands together
- Listening, imagination and creativity
- Confidence building
- Excellent technique and posture from the onset of playing
- A gentle, consistent introduction to note reading from the score
- An early, positive introduction to performing to others
- Concerts and community
- Teamwork: the learning triangle of Parent - Child - Teacher
For learners under the age of 12, having a parent attend the lessons and support with practise is invaluable.
